Demo Reel

Current demo reel, I hope that in a few years I will look back on it like I did with my ninja turtle drawings from middle school and say, "Hey! I can do better then this now! :)

Freelance

This was done before I got out here to Hawaii, needed some extra dough and did this one for FYI magazine in dubai. What made this so much fun to work on is that I was seriously stressing out at the time, I had finally landed a job but now came the long road of figuring out how I was going to break my lease, get my dog into hawaii with all the quarantine laws, and figure out how my gf was going to be able to go and transfer schools, and also how to afford to move all my stuff with no money. :) So I was stressed but then I got this little gig and it took my mind off of everything. My first pass at what the client wanted did'nt hit the mark I was bummed, but then I busted out this one and they loved it, it really just made me feel good to just be stress free and to also please a client at the same time.

Sketch Club!!

My dopetastic animation supervisor T-Dan Hofstedt rounded up the gang and work and formed a sketch club. We get together and push the pencils every friday, and we pick one mark at the end of it and try and do a memory sketch of that person. This is my first one a starnge fellow with a beard growing on the back of his lower head/neck. GOod times. I will post a link to the sketch club blog soon, but for now heres the sketch.

So the days are counting down until I make the big move to Hawaii, I still have to find a apartment for me and my girl, I am so nervous about my poor dog doing his 120 days in quarantine, and most importantly I am scared as hell that I am gonna suckkkk at the new job! lol I am still amazed that I got it, and so excited and happy about it, but also very very scared, I just hope I have what it takes and I don't let anyone down. In an attempt to not get rusty, I took a break from packing and planning the move and worked on this months 11 second club clip. Its about 2 days of work total, it was fun and I hope people dig it.

New JOB at Hawaii Animation Studios!!!

So since sept it has been one of the hardest times in my life, I found myself put in a situation that I thought I could not dig myself out of. The only thing I could do since sept was work! Re work and then re work it again, looking at the shots of my demo reel, really taking a hard look at it, and tweaking and asking people's opinion of how it could be better. I had alot of ups and downs and leads that turned flat, and finally landed a gig, with what seems to be a great team of people that I look so forward to working with and learing from. But the hard parts not over, lol now comes trying to pack up one life to start a new one, and this is proving to be yet another one of my greatest challenges in life. :) Things are a bit different now because I am in love and have a gf, and we also have my lil dog sketch, so planning this move is driving me a bit nuts, I thought by now we would have those Star Trek Teleporters! With money tight and time not on my side its going to take some creative thinking, but dammit I am doing it! In the packing process I ran across some old drawings and sketches and work from when I worked on some men in black casino game stuff, so in an attempt to calm my nerves and stress, I scanned a few and am posting them. I can't wait to see what kind of things in Hawaii inspire me to do. As with any job but especially this one, I hope to not let them down in their decision to make me apart of the team. Aloha Gainesville! 2010 is going to be an amazing year!

Berninis David

This is prob the one of the things that stayed with me the most in art history, was Bernini's statue of david. Ok for one the pose is just dope. The pose for me represents The pose I think we all hold in life, the pose of struggle, the pose of determination. The pose that goes up against "The Man" and says Fuck you, I don't care how big you are and how small I am I will face you head on! This is my pose, the pose i hold in life.It also is proof positive that in animation one good pose can say more to a viewer, then a 100 bad ones.

So he is keeping me soo damn busy, I have no time for personal work lately, between taking care of him and trying to meet work deadlines and still make time for the gf, personal work has gone right out the window. But I hope to be back in a groove soon. FOr now here is a pic of my puppy. His name is Sketch.

Ok so I have been working on this thing nonstop and having a blast! Its at the point now where I need to go in and clean up some things and maybe push some expressions.But overall I really dig where it is goin. I can not wait to see all the entries for this.
