Man all this time locked away trying to get better at my character animation, I forget to just sit back and draw, so I am trying to change that.

Ok so I have been working on this thing nonstop and having a blast! Its at the point now where I need to go in and clean up some things and maybe push some expressions.But overall I really dig where it is goin. I can not wait to see all the entries for this.

I have about 11 days left for the contest, so I will prob go dig back in and see where I can refine some areas, but for the most part its looking ok to me, I wish I had pushed the acting a bit more but after listening to the audio this is what came out so there it is.

Durd!

Ok so I am about 90 percent done with Durd, I have a friend/co-worker who is a sound designer, and musician and he is taking the temp track I made and adding some sound effects and music. In the meantime I am trying to polish out the bumps and humps on the animation. I hope people dig it, and if they don't well then there is always the next short I work on! GO OUT AND VOTE!

So I had a few days off of work, and it was nice to just fuck around and do my own thing so here is some new stuff! The durd character is something I am cooking up for a little short short short that I am gonna bust out, I also made a cute little soundtrack for it, so keep a look out.

Have you ever recieved threats from collectors or owed a loan? It feels like they got you by the balls for life, and you know what? They do, but I have the gift of art and the gift of a funny sense of humor, so THis alfalfa looking dude is my alter ego, a crazed looney that does nothing but go forth and detroys creditors, loan officers, student loan companies, banks, why does he go forth and do these killings? Its for the kids. ;) ALl kidding aside I think I will take one more pass at this before I can fully call it done.

Kung Foo Awesomeness!

I recently went to the movies and saw Kung Foo Panda, and damn was it good! The story was great, the characters all stayed true to who they were, the jokes all fit the film and wasnt just pop culture references. It was fantastic, one of the great challenges I have been faced with at work is animating a large creature that has weight and power and still able to be somewhat dexterious. To see this panda with its fluid movements with flawless weight shifts and wonderful timing, I was inspired and jealous at the same time LOL yea I can admit it I get jealous! I left the movie feeling happy and yet again reminded as to why I wanted to become an animator, watching people laugh and react to the animation and the characters was such a treat for me. My hat goes off to all who worked on the film and specifically the animators! I will continue to strive for something as great! GO see the movie! :)

So I was playin with my cam a few days ago and took some pics of some images that were too big for my scanner, pictures are not the best quality, I should of invested in the better cam. :) but I thought I would post these for the hell of it. :)

So from time to time I have this gig where I do graphic work or illustrations for FYI Magazine In Dubai, This image was suppose to go on the cover of their next issue, but because of timing constraints and my work load with my full time gig, things did'nt pan out, but I figured I would still post it to show you guys :) I saw the movie this weekend, it was ok, a bit cheezy at times :) Anyway hope u dig it!

Ok so I have not been good at posting, I cant really show the work I have been doing animation wise, but I had to post something. Truthfully, I have been partying my ass off looking for the first and only Mrs. Dixon :) But I recently rented factory girl about the life of Edie Sedgwick, and for now she is my girlfriend, and this image is inspired by her, just a fast little doodle, but I think its cute! More to come!

Gainesville Rocks!

Ok so its not a drawing but I promise to get some new sketches up soon, I have been so busy with getting settled in here in florida, and making new friends, learning how to animate using motion builder, which rocks btw! I really wish I could show some of the stuff I am working on, its very exciting and fun, And the models I am working on look so kick ass, not to mention the great rigs, I have never worked on such cool looking characters and its such a blast bringing these guys to life and animating them doing cool shit. I guess you will all see them when we finish our game. I am learning that life is about progression,not being afraid to try and go somplace new. I love the town here, Dallas was not the place for me, and this just confirms it being here, I have met some great people, I love coming into work everyday.And you can feel comfortable being yourself and speaking your mind without people bending out of shape. I look forward to showing off some new personal animation as well as some new sketches. Be back soon!

Creature

I did this a while back and I thought I had posted it on my blog but I think it use to be on my now non existant website.:) (one day I will make a new one!) But I really always liked the design of this character and the shapes I used on it seem really fun. A buddy of mine use to always tease me when I drew creatures because I would pose them as if they were super models, and I think this is one of them. But its one of my favorites and since its not on my old website and it appears I never posted it up here on my blog, I figured I would post it now, since my scanner is packed and I cant really do anything new just yet.Hope ya like it!

I have'nt been drawing much but tonight for the first time in weeks,I did this little drawing while watching Real world Road Rules Challenge LOL, the show is so stupid, yet I was compelled to watch.

NEW JOB!!!

Today I accepted an offer to work as a character animator for game play and cinematics for Ignition Entertainment out in Gainesville Florida. I am really excited to begin work there, very nervous and hope that I do not let them down. There is a lot of talent in this studio which can be very scary! But I am gonna give it my all. I would say I am gonna miss Texas, but that just would'nt be true. LOL

Shot out to MOMS!

I always speak of my dad's influence on my becoming an aritst, and I realized that I never give props to my moms. Never has there been a womans' bold presence of guidance and support, then what I got and still get from my mom. To be an artist, and to be an animator, I think you have to really know how to see people, and how to sympathize and empathize with their emotions and ideas. My mother is a queen of this. Never once did she stop me from trying to become and artist, and when I ever fell, and still do, she brings me up, and reminds me that everything I got in me, my will and determination to be stronger with each day, came from her. Creativity I may have gotten from my pops, but love and respect for the thngs I do and create, is all about moms.

Zapp & Roger

Imagine being 5 years old and watching your dad and his twin brother in the garage building a 7 foot tall robot surrounded by electronics and weird gadgets all made by your dad, Thats what Zapp and Roger take me back too, every weekend I would watch my father make robots jamming out to Zapp and Roger and the Jackson 5 and Earth Wind and Fire, it was good times, and when I hear this song it takes me back to those times when Imagination and fun was always around, I would see my dad create something from his head, and thought how awesome it was, and with the music it just added and extra flavor and excitment that to this day I take with me, So thats why I have Zapp and Roger playing on my blog! :)
